Somehow, this little tiny fishing island has been able to hold on to its true personality, even as it continues to welcome visitors from around the world to come share in its beauty. This is a laid-back community, forty-five minutes by boat from Belize City, and twenty-five minutes away from San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, yet it feels like a world away from everything. Spectacular sunrises over the Caribbean Sea and sunsets over the lagoon at the back of the island are only a couple of the picturesque things about this island. The friendly people, the fresh lobster and conch, (when in season), and always fresh fish, make this place idyllic.
Transportation to and from the island is by boat and air, back and forth between the island, nearby Caye Caulker, and Belize City on a regular basis during the day. Not far away is the Hol Chan Marine Reserve where you can safely swim with nurse sharks. Many inland tours to Maya Temples, the Belize Zoo, cave tubing and zip lining are offered from Caye Caulker. The diving is spectacular and includes day and night dives in the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Caye Caulker is a favorite with the locals because of its proximity to, and accessibility from Belize City. It’s easy to come here on a day trip. Lobster Fest is a big draw, but any time spent on Caye Caulker is time well spent.
