Overview

Xunantunich, Cave Tubing & Zipling

Today will be a busy day, so dress comfortably. You'll depart from your Hopkins hotel. We will pick you up on-site and transport you to Xunantunich in air-conditioned vehicles. Xunantunich is a national treasure that provides visitors with a sense of time travel. Located close to Belize's west border, it is worth a visit. Many vendors are waiting along the riverside at the entrance to the hand-cranked ferry. That has carried thousands of visitors to and from this lovely temple, offering souvenirs, hammocks, and blankets.

The views of the Cayo District and nearby Guatemala from the top of 'El Castillo' are magnificent! Join us for a few hours of simplicity and exploring another world before heading to Jaguar Paw for cave tubing and ziplining.

Once you reach the outpost, your tour guides will issue inflatable tubes, headlamps, and life jackets. Then, following a brief safety briefing and orientation, you'll embark on a 30-minute hike that includes wading through knee-deep water streams.

When you arrive at the cave system's entrance, it's time to embark on your ancient Maya underworld adventure. Stalagmites and stalactites add to the majesty and grandeur of Xibalba, as it is known. You'll also observe intricate crystal formations as you explore the cave. Upon exiting the cave, you'll be ushered by the gentle current and little rapids into a natural harmony of birds and wildlife that routes you back to the beginning of the tour.

However, there's still more to come! Our guides will help outfit you with the appropriate gear once you drop off your tubes and walk to the zip lining equipment area. After making your way to the first platform, you will receive an essential safety briefing covering braking techniques, balancing, and cable safety.

You're ready! Let's go! Let's go! You will zip along the aerial cable at canopy level until you reach the next platform, where a guide will meet you. You'll find a "hammock bridge" hanging almost 120 feet above the forest floor on several platforms into your Indiana Jones adventure. Explore Belize's spellbinding and lush primeval forest, as its comprehensive clearing of trees gives way to an endless blue sky. The lines get longer and faster after that. When visiting Belize, this thrilling experience is a must-do. It will add memorable photos to your album. There are seven lines, and the entire adventure lasts about 50 minutes.

If you are not planning on changing for cave tubing, wear comfortable shoes and clothing that will dry quickly. If you desire to bring a change of clothes, there are bathroom facilities and showers on-site, but it will be a quick change since time does not allow for leisurely showers. Rinse and go! Nobody provided soap or rags. It is also possible to decide whether you want to zip first and then do the tubing last if you want to cool off.
