Lamanai and Scenic Boat Ride from San Pedro

Lamanai is in the Orange Walk District, north of Belize City, and the traditional approach is by boat up the New River — a jungle waterway that makes the journey to the ruins as distinctive as the ruins themselves. From San Pedro, the water taxi crossing takes about 75 minutes before the drive north to the Tower Hill boat launch begins. Private Belize Adventure requires an early connection from the island. From the Tower Hill launch on the New River, the boat ride to Lamanai runs about an hour through calm, flat water into the New River Lagoon.
