Xunantunich and Cave Tubing from San Pedro

The Nohoch Che’en Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve is roughly 75 minutes east of Xunantunich on the return drive. After the crossing, a local guide and private air-conditioned vehicle drive west to the Cayo District. Xunantunich is reached via the Mopan River hand-cranked ferry at San José Succotz. Cave tubing at Nohoch Che’en follows the western-to-central backtrack on the drive east. Gear fitting covers the inner tube, helmet, headlamp, and life vest. The cave float runs 45 minutes to an hour through limestone passages — stalagmites and stalactites mark the cave walls throughout. After the float, there is time to change before the final drive to Belize City and the return connection to San Pedro.
