Belize Tours from Belize City
The Best of the West. Combine the grandeur of the ancient Maya with the serenity of the Belizean jungle. This tour takes you from the hustle of Belize City to the rolling hills of the Cayo District. You’ll climb the massive El Castillo temple at Xunantunich in the morning and enjoy a premier horseback riding experience at the historic Banana Bank Lodge in the afternoon.
We head west along the George Price Highway, enjoying views of the "Sleeping Giant" mountain profile. At the Mopan River, we cross on the hand-cranked ferry to enter the city of the "Stone Woman."
The Climb: Ascend the 130-foot El Castillo pyramid. It’s the second-tallest structure in Belize and offers incredible views into Guatemala.
On the return leg, we stop at the famous Banana Bank Lodge. This 4,000-acre estate is the gold standard for equestrian tours in Belize.
The Ride: Led by expert wranglers, you’ll ride through teak plantations, lush jungle trails, and along the Belize River. The horses are well-trained and calm, making this perfect for both beginners and experienced riders.
We specialize in shore excursions. We have never made a guest miss their ship.
1. Private Speed: We don't wait for 50 people to get on a bus. We leave as soon as you are ready.
2. Buffer Time: We plan the itinerary to have you back at the Tourism Village 1 hour before the last tender leaves.
3. Port Pickup: We meet you directly outside the terminal gates.

What to Bring:
1. LONG PANTS: Highly recommended for the horse riding portion.
2. Closed-Toe Shoes: Sneakers are best for both climbing ruins and riding horses.
3. Sunscreen & Bug Spray: Essential for the jungle.
1. I've never ridden a horse. Is that okay?
Yes! Banana Bank has over 100 horses. The wranglers will choose a calm, "autopilot" horse for beginners, or a more spirited one for experts.
2. Where do we meet you?
Cruise Guests: We meet outside the gates of Terminal 1 (Fort Street Tourism Village).
Water Taxi Guests: We meet at the exit of the San Pedro Belize Express or Ocean Ferry terminal.
We will be holding a sign with your name.
3. Is there a weight limit for the horses?
Yes, generally 250 lbs. This is for the safety of the animal. If you are near this limit, please let us know in advance so we can reserve a larger horse.
4. Can kids participate?
Yes. Children usually need to be 6+ years old to ride their own horse. Younger children may be allowed to ride double with a parent depending on the stable master's discretion.
