San Ignacio is one of the best places to stay if you want Belize ruins, caves, jungle scenery, and inland adventure. From town, guests are closer to Xunantunich, ATM Cave, horseback riding trails, cave systems, waterfalls, and several Cayo routes. Because the starting point is inland, many tours from San Ignacio feel more natural than the same route from the coast. It is not the best base for reef days or casual island sightseeing, but it is one of the strongest places to start for Maya history, caves, and active Belize experiences.
